Jesus, Man of Prayer
"Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus
also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened" (Luke 3:21).
"And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went
out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed" (Mark
1:35).
"And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to
pray" (Mark 6:46).
"And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed" (Luke
5:16).
"And it came to pass in those days, that he (Jesus) went out into
a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God" (Luke
6:12).
"And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain
apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone"
(Matthew 14:23).
"And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain
to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God" (Luke 16:12).
"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive
us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, forever. Amen" (Matthew 6:9-13).
"And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed
that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he
said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away
this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt"
(Mark 14:35-36).
"And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled
down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this
cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done..." (Luke
22:41-42). |
